From jazz to a cappella, the Smith Center’s fall lineup has something for everyone

The diverse roster of entertainment options ranges from stage versions of children’s television shows to a speaking engagement by an alternative health icon and concerts from throwback pop artists, jazz heavyweights and an innovative a cappella group. on September 17. Tickets to the newly announced shows start at $29 and go on sale July 29 at 10 a.m. Mark Adams Tue, Jul 26, 2016 (4:28 p.m.) There’s something for everyone beginning this autumn at the Smith Center, which unveiled additions to its fall lineup on Monday. The eclectic lineup adds to the Smith Center’s already-revealed Broadway Las Vegas series selections (Beautiful—The Carol Kling Musical and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas set up shop in Reynolds Hall this fall), as well as performances from its resident companies, the Las Vegas Philharmonic and Nevada Ballet Theatre. The Downtown performing arts center also revealed a handful of Cabaret Jazz shows, highlighted by Broadway great Lainie Kazan October 28 and 29; actress-turned-vocalist Rumer Willis (who recently starred as Roxie Hart in Chicago on the Great White Way) November 4-5; and Saturday Night Live alum Ana Gasteyer (who has been keeping busy with off-Broadway shows after recording her 2014 jazz standards album) November 11-12. Other Reynolds Hall highlights include the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with acclaimed trumpeter Wynton Marsalis on October 5, the return of Jethro Tull singer and flutist Ian Anderson on October 14, nontraditional a cappella group Straight No Chaser on October 15, and a speaking engagement titled “The Future of Wellbeing” from alt-health advocate Deepak Chopra on October 28. at the Smith Center box office and at TheSmithCenter.com. Two Grammy-winning jazz acts team up to kick off the new season, as vocalist Kurt Elling joins the Branford Marsalis Quartet on the Reynolds Hall stage September 14, followed by early pop icon Paul Anka on September 16 and children’s program Wild Kratts Live!
